iPhone Files → NAS Receipts → Bank Reader

One top-level folder on the family NAS: Receipts under share personal_folder on NASA. Drop photos from the Files app. Bank Reader on the Mac processes them automatically.

Where the folder lives

iPhone — Files app steps (every family phone)

One shared NAS folder for the whole family. Avery’s phone, Marvin’s phone, and any family iPhone all add the same server once. Scans land in the same Receipts drop; Bank Reader processes whoever dropped them.

  1. Open the Files app → Browse.
  2. Tap ••• (top right) → Connect to Server.
  3. Enter one of these (try in order on home Wi‑Fi):
    • smb://NASA.local/personal_folder
    • smb://NASA/personal_folder
    • smb://192.168.10.119/personal_folder
  4. Sign in with the family NAS username and password (not Apple ID).
  5. Open the folder named Receipts.
  6. Save or move receipt photos here (JPG, HEIC, PNG, PDF) — or use the camera Scan Documents / a scan app → Save to Files → this Receipts folder.
  7. Favorite it: long-press the server under Browse → Shared (or pin Receipts) so every family phone has one-tap access next time.

All family iPhones

WebDAV (Nephew — family iPhones)

SMB and WebDAV both work. SMB talks to the NAS directly. WebDAV is served by Nephew on the home Mac over the same Receipts folder (Bank Reader still watches it). No UGREEN admin click required.

What auto-processes

Bank Reader (Nephew Run Bank Reader on the Mac) watches this folder. While the Mac is on and the NAS is mounted, new files are OCR’d into the Receipts ledger.

Open Receipts — home vs away (doors)

Do not use *.localhost when you are away from home. Those doors only resolve on the home LAN. Off-home, use the family TLD after sign-in.

Open Bank Reader (TLD)

Away from home — capture without NAS

If you cannot reach the NAS (no home Wi‑Fi / no WireGuard), use Files → iCloud Drive → Receipts on the phone. When the home Mac is online and iCloud syncs, Bank Reader watches that folder too. Prefer the NAS path when you are home so files live on family storage first.

Reviewing the ledger while traveling still uses the TLD door above — not localhost.

Privacy

Receipt images stay on your NAS / Mac mesh. This marketing site does not host your photos. Processing runs on your Mac host, not a public cloud OCR for the default path.
